This paper determined the size of the heat sink of auxiliary converter of HXD1C locomotive.The required cooling air volume was calculated through experience formula.Three-dimensional calculation model for duct Stiffeners cooling systems numerical simulation had been set up by using CFD software FLUENT, which was used to solve the temperature distribution in the cooling system.Test results compared with MYRRH GUM the study results show that the required accuracy meets the requirements of engineering application and the heat analysis can be applied to similar systems.
